ACT Test Prep Books & Resources – ISBNs and Best Prices

The ACT or the SAT test score is the popular admissions benchmark among colleges in US. Earlier the ACT was the accepted norm among mid-western and southern US; elsewhere in the country SAT reigned. Long gone are those days and now choosing between the two is purely a personal preference. With a customized conversion chart universities compare the SAT Test scores and ACT Test scores. The onus is upon the student to reference the conversion chart from the concerned website.

To ease the confusion on choosing between the tests consider these points:
  1. Those with an excellent overall GPA will fare better with ACT Test, as math is explored in depth. Admirable grammar and vocabulary skills aid those considering the SAT option.
  2. The testing fee for ACT can cost less compared to SAT as the basic fee for SAT is $47 compared to $33 for ACT Test. With the optional writing section, the fee evens out to $48 for ACT Test.
  3. The ACT Test comprises of four sections English, Math, Reading, Science with 215 questions between them: English – 75, Math – 60, Reading – 40, Science – 40, and is timed at 2 hours 55 minutes total: English – 45 minutes, Math – 60 minutes, Reading – 35 minutes, and Science – 35 minutes. The optional writing test is 30 minutes. The SAT Test takes longer – 3 hours 45 minutes and includes a total of nine sub-sections spread over Critical Reading, Math, and Writing. Despite being longer, many because of the illusion it imparts prefer SAT Test – the sub-sections and the breaks in between make it seem move faster.

Score Choice is available with ACT and SAT Test. One can choose which score to report to colleges with either test.
